Peer-to-Peer Marketplace for Golfers with AI Integration | Codica | Codica

Background

The client partnered with Codica to create a two-sided auto parts marketplace (B2C/B2B) for Estonia and other Baltic countries, delivering the best experience for buying auto parts.

Finding the right auto parts is not as simple as it might seem. The right parts must fit your car, at the right price, and be delivered within a reasonable time. In reality, these aspects are rather challenging. That is why the client decided to get help from the Codica team to implement their idea of a high-quality experience for car owners and vendors when buying and selling auto parts.

The marketplace is a full-scale solution built as a B2C/B2B platform. You can find and buy auto parts (B2C) or register as a seller and manage your sales on the platform (B2B) via a full-scale vendor portal. It is a classical two-sided marketplace with a website, a full-scale vendor portal, an admin panel, and a backend capable of managing the most complex operations.

Thanks to the implemented technologies, auto parts selection is smooth, streamlined, and precise. The platform ensures next-day delivery, allowing customers to receive their orders as quickly as possible.

Project challenges

  • Market prices for auto parts are high due to a lack of centralized suppliers and transparency in price formation.
  • Buyers often get overwhelmed by the selection of the right auto parts, not knowing the item names or how to match them to their cars.
  • The market provides auto parts, but often from different vendors. The lack of a single order point defers delivery.
  • Auto parts vendors have large catalogs with thousands of SKUs, making it challenging to manage them. That is why supplier onboarding faces obstacles.
  • Marketplace customers speak different languages, and the platform should support all of them, given the diversity of cars and relevant auto parts.
  • People often look up auto parts online. Thus, a multitude of pages in the marketplace must be SEO optimized for better online visibility.
  • Precise auto parts selection is crucial, as the wrong part results in a return and could jeopardise the buyer’s trust.
  • Local payments must be secure and convenient. Hence, the local payment provider working best for the Baltic countries should be integrated.

Value delivered

  • The platform offers competitive prices by aggregating the same supplies from multiple vendors. Buyers choose from them and can weigh multiple factors, such as a supplier’s trustworthiness, location, and personal experience.
  • Our team implemented Elasticsearch with normalized item names and TecDoc OEM cross-references. This tandem yields an exact match, even when the indicated item names differ in format.
  • The platform can connect a buyer with local vendors. The vendor portal in the solution with advanced functionality makes it easy for sellers to manage their stock. These aspects ensure buyers receive their orders the next day.
  • Implemented bulk import (Excel and CSV support). It functions as a multi-worker processing items line by line, with progress tracking and error logging.
  • We helped our client to adapt the platform to different languages thanks to full-scale internationalization (i18n for short) with Mobile Gem in the backend and React Intl in the frontend.
  • To address the issue of listing visibility online, our team chose NextJS SSR (server-side rendering) and automatic sitemap generation for categories and listings. The result is improved indexing of the whole catalogue by search engines.
  • When selecting the right part, the TecDoc API is a great helper. We integrated it to help buyers find the necessary part by VIN, state number, make, model, and engine. Also, it helps you check if the part matches the relevant engine.
  • Added the Montonio integration as a leading payment provider in the Baltic countries, with support for payments in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Robust marketplace to serve B2C and B2B operations | Codica

Robust marketplace to serve B2C and B2B operations

The technical choices we’ve made for the platform address the pain points our client outlined in their request. Modern technologies make even the most complex processes a breeze. Thanks to the technologies and methods our team chose, the platform makes it easy for buyers to find the necessary auto parts that correctly match the car and for vendors to track stock. Competitive prices form naturally, and admins are relieved of routine operations thanks to automation.
Straightforward UX and subtle UI | Codica

Straightforward UX and subtle UI

We used MaterialUI, which is a robust tool for building designs that support consistent typography, icons, color system, and more. The layout looks sleek across devices and is built for scalability thanks to a layered structure. Design appears neat and modern, with the introduction of loading states, forms, and notifications. It helps customers with their essential tasks that otherwise could get into weeds. Clarity brings speed and precision, which results in satisfaction and trust.
We also introduced advanced interactions, such as image drag-and-drop, carousels, image galleries, and more. Rich imagery is of utmost importance when choosing auto parts, as every little detail matters. The introduced functionality allows you to present the items with every detail, which is also convenient for buyers in their research.
Exact match of auto parts in search | Codica

Exact match of auto parts in search

Lightning-fast Elasticsearch that supports fuzzy matching and context awareness helps you find through a massive amount of listings near real-time, even if the data is unstructured. We also implemented the TecDoc OEM cross-references, which link original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part numbers to aftermarket (IAM) alternatives, enabling accurate vehicle fitment matching. Moreover, we use the TecDoc API, which allows buyers to search for auto parts by VIN, simplifying the search for the right part, even when the buyer does not know the correct name or misspells their query.
Convenience and automation for customers | Codica

Convenience and automation for customers

The platform serves three sides: buyers, sellers, and admins. Tech enhancements from the Codica team deliver benefits to all, helping them reach their goals and connect when needed. At the same time, we’ve assigned specific role-based rights to preserve everyone’s privacy and the platform's proper operation. Browsing, managing stock and orders, managing platform usage, and more come together thanks to the implemented search, listing, data bulk import, user management, and other capabilities. Hence, the platform is ready to cover any auto part for any buyer and seller from the Baltic countries and online in general.

Enhanced online visibility of auto parts names | Codica

Enhanced online visibility of auto parts names

NextJS server-side rendering (SSR) ensures real-time stock prices, and generated sitemaps help website crawlers to index the marketplace website pages with ease. Hence, the relevant listings and pages from the marketplace are better visible on the Internet. As people discover auto parts from the marketplace using different search engines, the implemented features serve as a tool for organic customer acquisition.
Bulk import with Excel/CSV support for vendors | Codica

Bulk import with Excel/CSV support for vendors

Instead of filling up each row separately in a catalog, vendors can use bulk import with Excel/ CSV support, progress tracking and error handling. Thanks to bulk import, vendors map their catalogs with thousands of items in seconds, with massive time savings and drastically reduced errors. Moreover, we’ve implemented a multi-worker architecture to track failed listings separately, enabling successful retries and debugging of failed entries.
Localization to grow the marketplace in the Baltic countries | Codica

Localization to grow the marketplace in the Baltic countries

Our team worked on the client’s request to adapt the marketplace to the needs of local communities that live in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Hence, we shaped it into local payment integration of Montonio, the leader in the local payment sector. Moreover, the PartStall marketplace is adapted to local languages thanks to the internationalization (i18n). It means that the three languages are supported, along with English, and customers can type the auto parts names in their preferred language.
“What struck me most during the work on this platform is how modern technologies can lead to non-trivial results. They are capable of automation when you work on complex products or an immense amount of data. Actions that could take days now take minutes and a few clicks.
For example, bulk import of data for vendors in this marketplace is a true lucky find. Migrating a myriad of data becomes a one-time task rather than an endless series of spreadsheets. Buyers are equipped with the best technologies and won’t get lost even when unsure about the auto part name or spelling.
We’re delighted that our experience with time-tested technologies brings to this auto parts platform convenience, robustness, security, and trust.”
